Burlington, NC Zelma Elizabeth Wiggins Lewis, age 93, went home to be the Lord on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at her home. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of the late Henry Arthur Lewis. Zelma retired from ARA Food Services where she worked in the cafeteria at Elon College and was a homemaker. She was a charter member and the oldest living member of Nall Memorial Baptist Church and a member of the Bessie Nall Sunday School Class. She loved children and was devoted to her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Thompson of Burlington and Carolyn Lewis Starnes of Burlington; sons, David Lewis and his wife, Mariea of Burlington and H.A. Lewis, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Graham; 21 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 24 great great grandchildren; sisters, Mavis Carver of Burlington and Betty Andrews of Burlington; brother, Thomas Wiggins of Haw River. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Arthur Lewis; son, Ervin "Buddy" Lewis; daughter, Gail Toler; parents, Adrian Dorsey Wiggins and Fannie Pattishall; sisters, Katherine Williams, Muriel Lewis and Ida Tucker and a brother, Hurley Wiggins. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Wade Cox and assisted by Rev. Ernest Beck and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
