Graham-Wilmer Bird Hillhouse, age 90 passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Valdosta, Georgia to the late William Lewis Hillhouse and Martha "Mattie" Register Hillhouse. He was the husband of 70 years to Mary Catherine Pindar Hillhouse who survives. Wilmer retired as an electrical engineer with Western Electric after 30 years. He served with the 387th Infantry regiment receiving a bronze star for valor during WWII in the European theatre and also with the occupational forces in Japan following the surrender. Wilmer was an avid golfer and fisherman and he enjoyed woodworking after he retired. Wilmer took pride in building the two homes that his family lived in over the course of his life. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Catherine Pindar Hillhouse of the home; daughters, Carol Hodges of Apex, NC , Cathy H. Carter of Chico, California and Chris Hillhouse of Wellington, Florida; four grandchildren, Spencer and Pepper Hodges, Al and Dylan Carter. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 4:00pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Gurland Roberts. The US Army will provide military honors. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the funeral home and other times at the home.
