Wilma Kimbro

Burlington, NC Wilma Kirkman Kimbro, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 24, 2010. She was a native of Randolph County and the wife of the late Clarence Wilson Kimbro. Wilma retired from Tower Hosiery Mills and was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and sang in the choir. Wilma was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Gillispie and her husband, Bill of Burlington; sons, Wesley Kimbro and his wife, Roxie of Fuquay Varina and Wade Kimbro of Memphis, Tennessee; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Burton and her husband, Julian of Burlington, Lucille Whitaker and Doris Kirkman both of Climax; brother, J. W. Kirkman and his wife, Carolyn of Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Floyd Worth and Nannie Smith Kirkman and a granddaughter, Courtney Kimbro; sisters, Peggy Whitaker and Mary Brown and a brother, Jesse Kirkman. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m.at Andrews Memorial Baptist Church Chapel by Dr. Tommy Willis and Pastor Billy Gillispie and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of her daughter on Shepherd Drive in Burlington. The Kimbro family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice for providing loving and compassionate care to our mother. As her children, we echo the words of Proverbs 31:28, "Her children rise up and call her blessed." Mother, we love you and miss you, but we know that we will see you again.
