Willie Smirh

Burlington Willie Monroe Smith, age 94, of 410 Woodhaven Dr., passed away Tuesday July 17, 2007 at his home. A native of Pittsylvania County, VA, he was son of the late Tom and Minnie Shambley Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church and retired from Burlington Industries after 49 plus years of service. Survivors include his daughter Ann S. Ballard and husband Pete of Elon; sons, Ronnie William Smith and wife Betty of the home and Cecil Lee Smith and wife Phyllis of Elon; grandchildren, Shannon Smith and wife Wendy, Karen Warren and husband Billy, Diana Smith, Alicia Smith, Christopher Brent Smith and wife Melinda and Christina Hope Tolley and husband Jay; 5 great grandchildren, Jordan Smith, Hanna Smith, Tyler Gattis, Courtney Warren and Dylan Faulkner. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Pearl, Alice, Bertha and Dorothy and brother Tom. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Friday July 20, 2007 at the Glen Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Larry Redding and Rev. Jim Wrenn. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. Mr. Smith will remain at Lowe Funeral Home until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service.
