Willie Moore

Whitsett - Willie James Moore, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Duplin County on February 12, 1923 to the late Richard Hobbson and Bertie Louise Kivett Moore and was the husband of 39 years to Nellie Ruth Moore of the home.

Willie was a US Navy WWII Veteran and attended Brick Reformed Church. He retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company after 28 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie; son, Richard Moore (Debbie); daughters, Beckie Isley, Brenda McCain (Larry) and Wanda Moore; step son, Dennis Shepherd (Sharon); step daughter, Kaye Mikell (Don); six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Stainback Moore; grandson, Donnell McCain; parents and brothers, Edward Moore, Liston Moore and Carl Moore.

A service to celebrate Willie's life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Brick Reformed Church by Rev. Geoff Lalone. The burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park with military honors provided. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Thursday at the church and other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brick Reformed Church, 3699 Brick Church Rd, Burlington, NC 27215 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
