Willie Monroe "Billy" Gilliam, 70, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after two years of failing health. He was born in Alamance County to the late Willie Loften "Bill" Gilliam and the late Lora Louise Herbin Gilliam and was the husband to Genene Paschal Gilliam of 37 years who survives. Billy retired after 15 years with C & D International Tractor and First Source Rental. He was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church. Survivors other than his wife, Genene of the home include his daughter and son-in-law, Malinda and Kevin Simmons; sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Jane Gilliam, Clint and Robyn McCann, Jeff and Tammy McCann; 19 grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Howard Little; brother and sister-in-law, Stevie and Ann Gilliam. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Jeweldene Johnson and Audrey Moore. The funeral service will be held 2:00pm Friday, July 18, 2014 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. David Morris with burial to follow in Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home.
