Burlington – William Harold Dixon, Sr., 89, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at this home. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late John Henry Dixon and Joy Belle Stanfield Dixon and was married for over 58 years to Alma Mae Foster Dixon who passed in 2010.
Harold proudly served as a U.S. Marine from 1950 to 1954. He then went on to retired from Macfield Inc. as a shift manager and later retired in 1990 as a quality control manager from Torque Elastics Inc. in the textile industry. He was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church. Harold enjoyed going on fishing trips with his sons, camping, gardening as well as watching Carolina basketball and the Atlanta Braves. But most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his five children; Terry D. Dixon of Trinity, Carolyn D. Zimmerman (Mike) of Graham, William H. Dixon, Jr. (Susan) of Gibsonville, David A. Dixon of Snow Camp and Eric J. Dixon (Kelli) of Manahawkin, NJ., grandchildren; Alex Charbonneau, Shane Zimmerman, Nichole Hackmann, Lauren Dwyer, Tracy Dixon, Kaitlynn Dixon, Kyleigh Dixon, Kennedi Dixon, Dustin Dixon and Ashley Dixon, great grandchildren; Autumn Charbonneau, Alex (A.J.) Charbonneau, Jr. , Ayden Hackmann, Lilliana Hackmann, Grace Zimmerman, Isabelle Zimmerman, Harper Dwyer and Harrison Dwyer. He was preceded in death by his wife; Alma Mae Foster Dixon, parents; John and Joy Belle Dixon, Brother; John Dixon, granddaughter; Emilie Dixon and daughter-in-law; Penny Dixon.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 4:00 on Sunday June 27, 2021 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Darrell Massey with the burial at 2:00 on Monday, June 28 at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 3:45 prior to the service at the funeral home as well as other times at the home of his son, Harold Dixon.
