William “Gene” Williams, Sr., 81, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday December 11 2021. He was born in Alamance County on January 1, 1940. He was the husband of 56 years to Margie Williams who survives.
Gene was self employed and had a very successful house moving business that he built from the ground up. He was a man whom diligently worked hard to accomplish his goals in life. He was an advocate with antiques and had a passion for hit & miss engines. Gene was well known for his mechanical knowledge. Always known as a mechanical genius to anyone who knew him. He knew everything there was to rebuilding or breaking down engines of all kinds. Gene loved his family dearly and was an inspiration to be around, He was a self-made man who was always looking for a challenge and loved to show off.
Survivors other than his wife include his sons, Jimmy Williams, Scotty Williams (Tammy), Lil Gene Williams, Brian Williams and Joey Williams (Dina). Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews; siblings, Buddy Williams, Linda Sharpe and Eugene Williams (Rita). Gene was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, William Gene Williams III and sister, Gurtie Lucks.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Lowe Funeral home Chapel and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. The family will be at the residence at other times.
