William "Bill" Leonard

William “Bill” Franklin Leonard, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Moses Cone Hospital surrounded by his family.  He was born in Grayson County, VA to the late Alec Cooper Leonard and Mary Frances Reavis Leonard, and was the husband of 70 years to the late Eloise “Lois” Frazier Leonard who died in 2019.

Bill retired as a supervisor with Burlington Industries after 50 years of service.  He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Dee McFarling and Janice Coates and husband, Skeeter; his sons, Mike Leonard and wife, Karen, Steve Leonard and wife, Ellen, Doug Leonard and Tony Leonard; grandchildren, Joseph Krick, Kelly (Kevin) O’Keeffee, Morgan Leonard, Taylor Leonard, Travis Leonard, Michelle (Ernie) King, Matthew (Crystal) McFarling, Aleisha (John) Edwards, Shane Leonard, Tiffany (Forrest) Burnette, Joshua (Anna) Leonard, Justin Leonard, Tonya (Mark) Taylor, Shannon (Suann) Coates, Nicholas Leonard and Christopher Leonard; 23 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; 3 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law and loving nieces and nephews from Galax, VA.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife; parents; great grandchildren, Brynna Grace King and Micah Edwards; a brother, Edwin Leonard; and sisters, Faye Sizemore, Joyce Davis, Marie Bobitt and Helen Donithan

The funeral service will be held 2:00pm Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Steve Joyner with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:45pm prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
