William Stanfield

William Bill Alexander Stanfield, 83, of 2405 Gibsonville-Ossipee Rd. died on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Guilford County and was the son of the late Earl O. and Berta Stallings Stanfield. Bill was married for 64 years to Dorothy Dot Foster Stanfield who survives. He was a former employee of Western Electric, retired from the U.S. Post Office in Elon and was a retired farmer. Bill attended Bethlehem Christian Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He is survived by his wife, Dot Stanfield of the home; sister, Charlotte Murphy of Corbett Ridge and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, McKnight, Robert, Andrew and Arthur Stanfield. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday in the Mausoleum Chapel at Alamance Memorial Park by Rev. Dave Gilbert with entombment to follow. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
