Whitsett-William Howard Ray, 81 went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 25, 2017. He was a native of Guilford County and the husband of the late Peggie May Ray.
Howard retired from Proctor and Gamble after many years of service. He was a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church, member of the choir and the Methodist Men. He served as church treasurer and was a delegate to the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church. Howard was the former president of Volunteer Fire Department station # 28 for many years. He enjoyed playing golf and watching his grandsons play sports throughout their high school and college years.
Survivors include his daughters, Lisa R. Kale and husband, Wallace of Whitsett and Linda R. Hunt and husband, Michael of Gibsonville; grandsons, Tyler and Travis Hunt; step grandson, Brian and wife Debbie Kale; step great grandsons, Robert, David and Matthew Kale; sister, Peggy Greeson and husband, James of Gibsonville. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, William Rankin and Ruby Lowe Ray.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 2:00pm at Gibsonville United Methodist Church by Rev. David Greene and the burial will follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 pm prior to the service at the church.
