William Kimball "Kim" Partin passed away on December 25th, 2024, at Alamance Regional Medical Center due to pneumonia. Born on March 8th, 1935, in Durham, NC, to Thurman and Marjorie Kimball Partin, he was raised in Chapel Hill, where he thrived in the vibrant college-town atmosphere.
In his youth, Kim demonstrated the strong work ethic that would continue throughout his life. He began his professional journey as a paperboy for the Chapel Hill Newspaper and went on to work as a soda jerk at Sutton’s Pharmacy and an usher at the Carolina Theatre.
After graduating from Chapel Hill High School in 1956, he proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served a 2-year tour. Following his honorable military service, he returned to his beloved Chapel Hill. There, he explored various career paths before discovering his true calling as an agent for State Farm Insurance in 1964.
Through 35 years of unwavering dedication and hard work, he nurtured his agency into one of the largest and most successful in the region. His commitment to the well-being of his clients was unmatched, and he always expressed deep gratitude for the steadfast support of his devoted staff, who played an integral role in the agency's success.
Kim Partin was a kind and generous man. His mind was a steel trap. His tall tales were legendary. Even in declining health, he could deliver a quick joke or wry observation like nobody else. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Shara Rousselle Partin of Burlington; his son, Drew Partin of Hendersonville; his daughter, Jenny Partin (Lewis Duncan) of Washington, D.C.; and his cherished grandchildren, Liam Partin, Laura Partin and Elspeth Duncan.
Family and friends will gather for a graveside service in the memorial garden at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Burlington at 1:00 p.m. on Friday January 3rd. A reception will follow in the church parlor.
