William Newman

William "Bill" John Newman passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was born on November 13, 1924 in Clifton, NJ. Bill married Margy Disner of Merchantville, NJ on May 27, 1951. He graduated from Cliffside Park, NJ High School in 1942. Mr. Newman served in the Navy as electronic technician aboard LST's 47 and 1046 during WW II. He graduated from Stevens Institute of Technology in 1948. He was an engineer with Radio Corporation of America, Camden, NJ in Television Terminal Equipment Department in development. Mr. Newman was Vice-President at Nidisco, an electronics parts distributing company in NJ. He was a member of the Sanford Lions Club for over 32 years, serving as President in 1995, and was a Melvin Jones Fellow. Bill was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church in Gibsonville where he also served as webmaster. He is survived by his wife, Margy of the home; daughter, Nancy Ellen Newman of Matawan, NJ; son, Kenneth John Newman of Canyon Country, CA and grandchildren, Courtney, Chelsea and Kelly. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friedens Lutheran Church, 6001 NC Hwy 61 North, Gibsonville, NC 27249.
