William Nelson

Mr. William George "Biff" Nelson, age 69, of Browns Summit, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at his home after several months of failing health.
Born in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of the late Standley W. Nelson and the late Helene Roupas Nelson and was married for over 26 years to Mrs. Debbie Loye Nelson, who survives. Biff was a veteran of the U.S Army and the National Guard and retired with over 22 years of service. After his military career he had a long and successful career in sales in the textile industry and later was the sales manager for Commercial Lightning Protection which he was instrumental in establishing. He was of the Greek Orthodox faith and attended the Dormition of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church.
Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife of the home; his four children, Mark (Lisa) Nelson of South Glens Falls, NY, Elizabeth "Libbie" (Joe Preece) Aurelia of Glens Falls, NY, Steve (Trina) Apple of Stokesdale, NC and Jenny (Nick) Tierney of Oak Ridge, NC; eight grandchildren, Alex, Patrick, Kate, Izzie, Noah, Will, Ellie and Simon; a sister, Marie E. (Deb) Nelson of South Glens Falls, NY; and a special cousin, Sophia Wales of Syracuse, NY.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Apple's Chapel Christian Church by Rev. C Allen Myers III and Rev. John Conner. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 PM Friday evening at the church.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Hospice Care Team of Northeast Guilford for their loving and compassionate care of Mr. Nelson during his illness.
