William Miles

William Ervin Miles, 77, of 2972 Cherry Grove Rd. died Saturday, November 26, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was married to Hazel Grey Underwood Miles for 55 years and was born September 15, 1934 in Caswell County to the late William Bryant and Emmie Mae Miles. He served in the US Army and the National Guard. He began his career with Burlington Industries as a third shift loom operator and retired as a Product Development Manager. He was member of Oakview Presbyterian Church. He was a charter member of Southern Caswell Ruritan and Cherry Grove Ruritan clubs. He served as the 1984 President of Ruritan National. He was active in the Chamber of Commerce of Caswell County. He volunteered at Hospice of Alamance-Caswell with the annual Flea Market and Celebrity Golf Tournament. Survivors include his wife of the home, daughters, Beverly David Hockenberger, Sandra Gibson, Susan Kevin Crabtree, Donna Timmy Pruitt all of Caswell County, grandchildren, Evan Hockenberger, Kaitlyn Hockenberger, Emily Gibson, Megan Robbie Bridges, Drake Crabtree and Justen Pruitt. The funeral will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday at Oakview Presbyterian Church officiated by Bob Hillman. Interment will follow in Bethel Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:30 8:00 PM Monday at the Southern Caswell Ruritan Building and at other times at the home.
