William Meeks

Elon, NC William "Bill" Harris Meeks, age 67, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 2, 2013 after a long illness. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 46 years to Jean Hill Meeks who survives. Bill retired after 33 years with Glen Raven Mills where he also played on the Glen Raven Mills softball team for many years. He attended New Life Fellowship. Bill was a hard worker and a dedicated family man. Bill would always bring a smile to your face with his jokes and good spirit. His dedication to his family was surpassed only by his selfless love and devotion. Survivors include his wife, Jean Hill Meeks of the home; daughters, Tracy Hardy and husband, David of Greensboro, Lori Wyrick of Burlington, Rhonda Strange and husband, Andy of Elon and Jessica Rice and husband, Braxton of Burlington; son, Jeff Wyrick and wife, Jayne of Burlington; grandchildren, Kalyn Aaron Cobb, Tayler Strange, Adam Hardy; and a great grandson, Luke; sisters, Barbara Apple and husband, Richard of Haw River and Jeanette Conklin of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Madison Morris and Lucille Elizabeth Smith Meeks; brothers, Tommy, George, Chris and Bobby Meeks and sisters, Dorothy Justice, Gaynell Poole and Betty Meeks. A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 11:00 am at Alamance Memorial Park by Pastor Don Overman. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm on Monday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
