William Long, Sr.

William C. "Billy" Long, Sr. 86, of 1016 Sherwood Dr. passed away Thursday, December 4, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Long was born March 1, 1922 in Person County to the late William Daniel and Claire Long. Billy was a retired salesman and was a member of Front Street United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Jean W. Long of the home; a son, Coleman Long and his wife, Patti of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Ryan Long and his wife Natalie, Jonathan Long and his wife Erin, and Whitney McElroy; and a brother, Richard Long of Creedmoor, NC. Mr. Long was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy McElroy; a sister, Nancy Long; and his parents. A funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marshall Old and Rev. Ben Alexander officiating. The burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30-3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
