William Lane

Burlington William Fellows Lane, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at his Twin Lakes' residence. He was born January 25, 1932 to the late Oliver Fellows and Doris Andrews Lane and was the husband of 56 years to Jane Elizabeth Holt Lane of the home. Bill was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church and was a member of the Green Garden Group at Twin Lakes. He graduated from St. Lawrence University with a B.A. degree in Sociology and served two years as an officer in the U.S. Army. He was an active member in the Rotary Club and was also an active supporter of the University of Massachusetts athletics. He was an honorary Alumnus of UMass and was employed there as a college Alumni Administrator for 27 years. Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a loyal friend to all. Survivors include his wife of the home; sons, Bryce Lane and wife, Susanna of Raleigh and Brian Lane and wife, Susan of Raleigh; a daughter, Barbara Estes and husband, Everett of Hadley, MA; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a sister, Trudy Gibson of North Beach, NJ. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Virginia Outslay. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Foley Chapel at Twin Lakes with the reception to follow at Sullivan Park.
