Rev. William Curtis Lamb died January 30, 2008. Lamb was born on May 20, 1928 in Elizabeth City, NC, to the late Joseph L. Lamb, Sr., and Marjorie W. Lamb. He was a resident of Twin Lakes Retirement Community in Burlington, NC, and was predeceased by his wife, Miriam Smith Lamb. William Lamb was a graduate of Wake Forest College, Wake Forest, NC, and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY. He was ordained as a minister at the First Baptist Church, Elizabeth City, NC, on December 26, 1948. His many years of Christian service included: Associate Pastor, First Baptist Church, Rocky Mount, NC, and West Broadway Church, Louisville, KY; Pastor, Dallasburg Baptist Church, Wheatley, KY, First Baptist Church, Cherryville, NC, and Sunset Park Church, Wilmington, NC; Associate Director, Division of Evangelism four years and State Director of Evangelism over eleven years with the Baptist State Convention of NC, Raleigh, NC. Lamb was the first full-time Evangelism Consultant with the Hawaii Baptist Convention, Honolulu, and also was the Director of Missions, Eastern Baptist Association, Warsaw, NC. He was a member of the Grove Park Baptist Church, Burlington, NC. Lamb was a Visiting Instructor of Evangelism at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Wake Forest, NC, for the Spring Semesters of 1973 and 1974. He contributed Chapter 6 to the book: Evangelism Men: Motivating Laymen to Witness, Broadman Press, Nashville, TN, 1974. Survivors include a son, James Stephen Lamb, Boston, MA; two grandsons, Evan Lamb and Drew Lamb, Raleigh, NC; and a brother, Joseph L. Lamb, Jr. and wife Meade, Elizabeth City, NC. The memorial service will be held at Grove Park Baptist Church, at South Church Street and Alamance Road, Burlington, NC, on Saturday, February 9th at 2:00 p.m. Directions: From I-85 take exit 143 on Alamance Road, go eight blocks to South Church Street, and the church is on the right. Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
