William Jones

Burlington - William Goble Jones, 87, passed away Monday, August 7, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born in Lily, Kentucky on May 17, 1930 to the late General Floyd Jones, Sr. and Dora Miracle Jones and was the husband to Helen Eubanks Jones of 63 years who survives.

Goble retired after 32 years with Western Electric/AT&T as an electrical engineer. He was a US veteran of the Air Force, a former Assistant Scout Master with Troop #128. He was a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church and was a former member with Grace United Methodist Church; where he faithfully served in various positions.

Survivors other than his wife, Helen Jones include their sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce Jones, Brian and Lisa Jones, Barry and Jody Jones, Blain and Karen Jones; grandchildren, Brandon Jones and wife, Katherine, Mitchell, Alexander, Sarah, Alexis and Blake Jones; sisters, Clara Karr, Ruby Faulkner and Elrose Carr and husband, Jacob; brothers, General Floyd Jones, Jr. and wife, Peggy, Opal Jones and wife, Elizabeth, Jimmy Jones and wife, Tammy; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Bertha Black, Ethel Black, Myrtle Whitely, Betty Sams; infant brother, Felix and infant sister, Cecil.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 11, 2017 at Davis Street United Methodist Church by Rev. Edgar De Jesus and Rev. Carson Wiggins. The family invites you to join them for a catered lunch in the fellowship hall following the service. The graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home.
