William Gerald “Jerry” Lowery, 75, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at the hospice home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 27, 1947 in Greenwood, MS to the late William Henry “Bill” Lowery and Dorothy Jordan Lowery.
After graduating high school in Charleston, SC, Jerry served in the United States Air Force, spending time overseas in Japan. He earned his bachelor’s degree from The Citadel and his master’s degree in electrical engineering from Clemson University. His career brought him to North Carolina where he settled with his wife, Linda, and began working at AT&T at the old Western Electric plant. He retired from AT&T/Lucent Technologies and then worked for a time at Tripath Imaging/BD Diagnostics before fully retiring. He was an avid reader, enjoyed Bluegrass Festivals, fishing, camping, and spending Saturday mornings at Grill Worx in Graham, where he made many friends over the years.
He is survived by his daughter, Katharine Frazier, the light of his life, and her husband Greg; grandchildren, William Frazier and Gabby Frazier; his sister, Marlene Smith; his sister-in-law, Judy Lowery; his nephew, caregiver and friend, Spencer Lowery; and many nieces and nephews, all who he loved very much. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leland Lowery.
The family would like to thank the medical professionals who helped him over the years, especially Dr. Mark Miller at Kernodle Clinic and Danielle Maier, MPAS, PA-C at UNC Healthcare.
The family will be having a gathering to celebrate Jerry’s life from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory.
