William Isley

Gibsonville William Jennings "Bill" Isley, 86, went home to be with the Lord Friday, August 17, 2012 at Liberty Commons. He was born in Guilford County on April 1, 1926 to the late Everette Joel and Lessie Foster Isley and was the husband of 64 years to Mary Lou Flynn Isley who resides at the Oaks of Alamance. Mr. Isley was a longtime member of Gibsonville Christian Church where he served as a choir director, deacon, Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent. He was also a US Navy veteran serving from 1944-1946. He is survived by his wife, brother, Rev. Hobert A. Isley of Gastonia; sister, Gail Thomas of Gibsonville and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Ruth Isley Hughes, Dorothy Isley Cuthbertson and Opal Mae Isley and brothers, Everett J. Isley, Jr. and Horace E. Isley. The funeral service will be held 2:00pm, Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Hobert A. Isley and Rev. Daniel Jennings with the burial to follow at Gibsonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm-1:45pm prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Liberty Commons and The Oaks of Alamance for their love and compassion toward Mr. Isley over the last few months.
