Gibsonville - William Earl "Bill" Hyder, Jr., 90, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 24, 2016 at Alamance Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Johnson City, TN on November 20, 1927 to the late William Earl Hyder, Sr. and Pearl Laws Hyder and was the husband of 62 years to Patty Cheek Hyder.
Bill attended Burlington Assembly of God and was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. He enjoyed watching baseball games, fishing, parades, fireworks and was an avid NASCAR fan. He often spent time with his friends at "The Big Shed" and enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of the home; daughters, Cynthia Hyder, Teresa Hyder Walker; son, William Keith Hyder; grandson, Jordan Hunter Walker; special grandchild, Jacob Perez; brothers, Jim Hyder and wife Betsy, Ed Hyder and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ethel Jean Cecil; brothers, Charles Hyder, Marion Hyder and his K-9 companion, "Rusty".
A funeral service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Brian Rainbow and Pastor Howard Thompson with the burial to follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30pm -1:45pm prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
