William Huff, Jr.

William "Bill" Henry Huff, Jr., age 71, of Burlington went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 after several months of failing health. He was born in Cabarrus County to the late William Henry Huff, Sr. and the late Ruth Margaret Lollis Huff and was married to Carolyn Turner Huff, who survives. Bill retired after 30 years with Burlington Industries Transportation Division, having never recorded an accident. He later was a driver for Saia Motor Freight and he also drove the shuttle bus for Elon University. He was a member of Riverdale Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee, and he was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, of the home; two daughters, Pamela Ann Huff and Toby Barnette of Creedmoor and Kimberly Diane Norman and her husband, Dwayne, of Timberlake; a son, Michael Leon Huff and his wife, Donna, of Graham; a step daughter, Shannon Loy and husband, Donald, of Elon; four grandchildren, Ashley Huff, Joshua Huff, Alec Barnette and Willow Norman; two step grandchildren, Shania and Savanah Loy; and a brother, Gary Steven Huff and his wife, Pat, of Kernersville. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marjorie Brown; and a brother, Jimmy Lee Huff. A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 26, 2014 at Riverdale Baptist Church by Rev. Johnathan Graves, Rev. Darrell Massey and Rev. Milton Farmer. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Thursday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home. Mr. Huff's family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Pandit and his nurses, Sherry and Josh; all the staff at ARMC Cancer Center and Hospice, especially Rusty, Jennifer and Dale, who provided such loving and thoughtful care to Bill during his illness.
