Burlington -
William R. "Bill" Boswell, 80, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Hospice Home.
A native of Alamance County, he was the son of the late Nesbit Hanford Haney and Jesse Boswell and husband of Faye Williamson Boswell who survives.
Bill was a 1955 graduate of E.M. Holt High School where he played forward for the Wildcats basketball team winning a state title and playing on the Burlington All-Star team in 1955. He was an avid golfer winning his division in the Dupont World Amateur in Myrtle Beach, SC and for three years won the Hospice Golf Classic. As an avid supporter of Hospice, he volunteered for every Hospice fundraiser and worked tirelessly for the Hospice Flea Market. He also enjoyed dancing and traveling. He was formerly Vice President of Hanford Brick Co. He was a licensed real estate agent and entrepreneur. Bill will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Williamson Boswell of the home; daughter, Bonnie Boswell Moore of Apex; grandchildren, Camden Vance Moore, Alexander Paul Moore and William Boswell Moore; brother, Clifton Boyd Boswell and wife Alice of Graham. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Shirley B. White and Evelyn "Dimples" Boswell Bell.
A service to celebrate Bill's life will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mr. Boswell will remain at Lowe Funeral Home through the funeral service. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Tuesday.
