William Paul “Billy” Pinson, Jr., 61, of Burlington, North Carolina, passed away June 9, 2022. Born in Alamance County, he was married to Susan, his wife of more than 35 years. He was the son of Dr. William Paul Pinson, Sr. and the late Mary Ann Pinson. Billy was a graduate of North Carolina State University and a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He spent the last 35 years at TAPCO Underwriters, Inc., where he was President and a leading force in the insurance industry.
Billy was beloved by all who knew him, a force larger than life whose smile and infectious laughter lit up any room he was near. With his sweet spirit and unfailing kindness, he had a way of making everyone feel they were his best friend. Never turning down a good time, Billy was always ready to entertain his family and favorite buddies–with a drink in one hand and guitar in the other. Over his life, Billy accumulated an enormous circle of friends that extended from Burlington to North Myrtle Beach and far beyond. His huge love for his friends was surpassed only with the arrival of his grandchildren, who became the true joy of his life.
In addition to his wife, Billy is survived by his three sons Will (Maggie), Blake (Lee), and Michael (AB); his 5 grandchildren, Miles, Trey, Rhett, Lou, and Britt; and his two sisters Rebecca Lynn Adams and Julianne Messick (Chad). He is also survived by his extended family Robert Oakes (Darlene), Elizabeth Leonard (Jon), and Kathryn Oakes.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at 2:00pm at Grove Park Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Marc Sanders. There will be a gathering for family and friends immediately following the service at Alamance Country Club.
As a founder and frontman of the Fabulous Lumpsters, memorials can be made to the Save the Music Foundation to help others find the joy in music that Billy did. Alternatively, donations can be made to The Carolina Living and Learning Center, 325 Russett Run, Pittsboro, NC 27312 in honor of special friends Emily, John, and Walker McDonald and in pursuit of improving the lives of those living with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
