Burlington Billy Jack Billings, Sr. age 71, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at his home. He was a native of Grayson County, Virginia and the son of the late Conley Cicero and Rose Myrtle Billings. Billy retired from the US Navy as a Chief Petty Officer after 21 years of service to his country. He later retired from the Alamance-Burlington School System after 26 years. Billy was a benevolent man who enjoyed helping people and was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca Harris and her husband, Joe of Burlington, NC and sons, Billy Billings, Jr. and his wife, Pam of Snow Camp and Michael Billings of Asheville, NC; grandchildren; Trevor Billings, Ann-Marie Mignone, Megan Perry and Allison Billings; brother, Scott Billings of Galax, Virginia and a sister, Mary Smith and her husband, Paul of Burlington; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Tommy Bright. The burial with military honors provided by the US Navy and the Marine Corps League # 1209 will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm on Monday, May 28, 2012 at the funeral home and other times at the home of his daughter. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to National Emphysema Foundation, 128 East Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06851 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance/Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
