Wesley Atkins

Elon- Wesley Hubert Atkins, age 92, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Carleen Ingle Atkins and son of the late Roman Wesley and Mary Wilmoth Amos Atkins. He was a farmer in the Altamahaw community, a member of the VFW and cooked Brunswick Stew, chicken and pork for the Atkins Family Reunion annually. Mr. Atkins had two honorable discharges from the U.S. Army and later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving his country for four more years.
Survivors include his daughters, Cheryl Ann Vogler and husband Al of Graham and Renee Atkins Barber of Greensboro; son, Howard Ray Atkins of Elon; grandchildren, Wesley Atkins and wife Kacie, Jessie Atkins Fidotta and husband Dominick and Buck Vogler and wife Katie; step grandson, Chris Aldridge and wife Leslie; 9 great grandchildren; sisters Louise Holland of Stoneville, and Geraldine Peedin of Guilford College. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers, Hardy "Pop" Atkins and James Atkins; sisters Mary Jane Atkins and Margie A. Price and daughter in law Sue Atkins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Monday, December 17, 2018 in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Wesley Price. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Mr. Atkins will remain at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory through the funeral service. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Sunday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of Jessie and Dominick Fidotta; 4120 Jimmy Bowles Rd. Elon.
