Wayne Zimmerman

Brown Summit Wayne Thornton Zimmerman, 66, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Moses Cone Hospital. A native of Guilford County, he was born May 26, 1949 to the late Frank and Mary Louise Eanes Zimmerman. Wayne was a charter member of Gospel Baptist Church. He spent his days working on the family farm. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, hunting and attending the ACE Speedway races. If there were community activities, he was sure to be involved. He enjoyed life and loved his family and friends. Survivors include his brothers, David Zimmerman and wife, Dona of Reidsville, James Zimmerman and wife, Kathy of McLeansville; sister, Ann Vaughn and husband, Richard of Greensboro; nephews, Davy Zimmerman, Tim Zimmerman, Jamie Zimmerman, John Zimmerman, Jr. and fianc, Amanda Hamilton; nieces, Marsha Bullock, Amy Davis and husband, Scott, Carla Fulk and husband Drew, Anna Vaughn, Jessica Zimmerman, numerous great nieces and nephews; and his beloved k-9 companion, Bobo. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Earl Zimmerman, Sr. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held 11:00am on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Gospel Baptist Church by Rev. Ken Goins and Rev. Larry Andrews with the burial to follow at Lakeview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Lowe Funeral Home and other times at James' and Kathy's home at 5303 McLeansville Rd., McLeansville, NC 27301.
