Wayne Jones

Wayne Russell Jones, age 63, of 5400 Cedar Creek Dr. left his earthly home on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, after being given exceptional care by the staff of the Cardiac Care Unit at Duke University Medical Center. Just being together outdoors with his best friend and loving wife, Peggy Taylor Jones, over the last 43 years fulfilled his dreams. Whether that involved traveling, sailing, riding their Harleys, driving his Corvette or just working around the house the two of them have always done everything together. Wayne was so proud of his two sons and cherished the time he could be involved in their lives. He spent many hours coaching football, hunting, fishing and instilling in them strong values. He was the son of the late Charlie Franklin and Allene Bray Jones. He retired from Lucent Technologies, was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, the Triad Corvette Club, Burlington HOG Chapter and the Lake Townsend Yacht Club where he assisted teaching sailing during the summer and was a former member of the Army National Guard. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Taylor Jones of the home; sons, Charles Russell "Rusty" Jones of Hendersonville and Bryan Wayne Jones and wife Nicole of Elon; grandchildren, Cooper Ryan Jones and Madalyn Isla Jones; sisters, Elaine Jones Matthewson and husband Matt of Elon, Jolene Jones Harden of Lexington and brother, Woodrow Jones of Supply. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, George William Jones. Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Friday, July 13th at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Greensboro. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Burlington. Mr. Jones will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory through the funeral service. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home from 6-8pm Thursday and other times at the residence. "Motorcycles welcome!"
