BURLINGTON- Walter Dayton Morse, 83, passed away Friday, December 18, 2015 at his home following a brief illness. He was born in the city of Elmira, Chemung County, NY on July 30, 1932 to the late Ralph and Beatrice Morse and was the husband of 60 years to Vitha Bean Morse of the home. Walter was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter and was a US Army Veteran having served during the Korean War. He was the past Commander of the Burlington VFW post # 10607, a member of the Gibsonville VFW Post # 2972 and of the Burlington American Legion Post # 63. Walter enjoyed the beach, and was known for his hard work ethic and love of family. He is survived by his wife of the home; a son: David Allen Morse of Burlington; daughters, Charlene Rallo and husband Dr. Michael Rallo of Eclectic, AL, Ramona Simmons of Burlington, Patricia Estes and husband Garry of Burlington; grandchildren, Christy Hines, Peggy Hines, Meghan Simmons, Brandon Morse and fiancée Heather McFarland, Brian Morse, Brittany Morse and fiancé Adolfo Maya-Marino, Bryce Moseley, Maxx Estes, Lee Estes, Scott Estes and wife Brittany; great grandchildren, Gavin Searels, Cameron Morse, Ashya Morse, Auburn Morse, Emily McFarland; brother, Les Morse and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Debbra A. Morse; four brothers, three sisters and his son-in-law, John R. Hines, Jr. A service to celebrate his life will be held 11:00am on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Father Adam Shoemaker with burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter at 320 E Davis St, Burlington, NC 27215 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517 Topeka, Kansas 66675.
