Walter Hamlett

Mr. Walter Fleming Hamlett, 63, of Liberty, NC was Promoted to Glory on Sunday, November 23, 2014. For 44 years, Walter shared a blessed life with his wife Lana Hamlett; together they had four children, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was the son of the late Garnett and Hazel Hamlett. Not only was Walter a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, he was also a faithful soldier for the Lord. Everything he did was to honor and glorify Jesus, our Savior. He was a member of the Salvation Army of Burlington and was a very active bandsman and committed Sunday school teacher. Walter was an officer of the Salvation Army for 18 years, serving in Virginia, Florida, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Walter was also previously employed with Keck Construction and Neese's Country Sausage in the Burlington area. He is survived by his wife, Lana Hamlett, daughters Tina Armstrong and husband John of Burlington; Tricia Duncan and husband Donny of Wichita Falls, TX, sons Jason Hamlett and wife Amy of Gibsonville; Jonathan Hamlett and wife Monica of Mebane, grandchildren Valerie Raynor, Isaac Raynor, Joshua Duncan, Jeremy Duncan, Ashton Hamlett, Jessie Hamlett, Abby Hamlett, Jacob Hamlett, and Nathan Hamlett, brother Raymond Hamlett and wife Barbara of Ossipee, sister Penny Holderfield and husband Dave of Graham. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Ellen Mays Kraushaar; brother Wesley Hamlett and a great-grandchild Dontae Stennis. A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Burlington. Captain Jimmy Taylor will be speaking and the family receiving friends 12:00 1:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
