Wallace Holt Slade, 79, of 1462 Morningside Dr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior at his residence. Mr. Wallace was born March 26, 1927 in Alamance County to the late Lee Wycliff and Lillian G. Slade and he was married to Helen Potts Slade for over 60 years. Mr. Slade was a retired truck driver after 30 years of service with Associated Transport and also retiring from Leeway Trucking. He was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, and was a talented country and bluegrass musician. Mr. Slade was a proud veteran of the United States Navy where he served in W.W. II in the pacific theatre and a member of the construction battalion. Survivors other than his wife include two children, Frederick Freddie Slade and wife Betty and a daughter, Tina Blackwell and her husband Jeff all of Burlington; five grandchildren, Kim Strickland, Jason Slade, Jeremy Blackwell, Christopher Blackwell, and Kaitlyn Blackwell; six great grandchildren, Matthew May, Meredith May, Karlee Strickland, Elizabeth Slade, Patrick Slade, and Karaline Blackwell; two sisters, Ruth Vaughn and Mary Viers both of Burlington; one brother, Robert Slade of Asheboro. He was preceded in death by a brother Gene Slade. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2006 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Larry Redding. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, November 27, 2006 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the residence.
