Walker Howard

Burlington, NC Walker G. Howard, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the Hospice Home. He was a native of Charlestown, Indiana and the husband of 60 years to Doris Clement Howard who survives. Walker retired from Alcatel Lucent after 30 years and was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a member of Holly Hill Baptist Church and a member of the Tom Hill Men's Sunday School Class. Walker was a US Army veteran of WW II serving in the European Theatre. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Doris Clement Howard of the home; daughters and son-in-law, Phyllis and Keith Winston, Patricia Howard; son and daughter-in-law, Robert "Bob" P. and Donna Howard; grandson, Eric Lee Howard; great grandchildren, Austin Howard, Ava Howard and Jaxson Howard; brother, Paul Howard. He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Harvey and Grace Wilson Howard; sister, Helen Howard and a brother, Lee Wayne Howard. A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 8, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Holly Hill Baptist Church by Rev. Jonathan Harrison and Rev. Paul West. The family will be at the home at other times. Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
