Wade Pappy Darwin Wells, 93, of 805 Isley School Road went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 27, 2005. He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Edgar H. and Mary Merck Wells. Wade retired after 35 years with Associated Transport and he was a member of the local Teamsters Union. He was a longtime member of Glen Raven Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Teacher for the Christian Workers Class for many years. He was a former Deacon and Choir Director and he served on various committees at the church. Wade loved his family and his church living out his Christian Faith in every area of his life. He also enjoyed gardening and sharing his vegetables with his many friends and neighbors. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Pat Wells Keck Cameron and her husband, Dan of Efland; granddaughters, Kelli Keck of Charlotte and Kristi Keck and her fiancee, Trey Hussey both of Burlington; sister, Ethel Spillars of Springfield, Virginia; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora Hill Wells; parents and four brothers. The Wells family wants to express their appreciation for the love and care given Pappy by Elna Scruggs, Carlynne and Tracy Hussey, Ashley Gunnell and his church family, neighbors and friends. A special note of thanks to the nurses and staff of Hospice for all their love and support helping to make the past weeks comfortable for Pappy. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Glen Raven Baptist Church by Rev. Bobby Fann and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2005 at Lowe Funeral home and Crematory and at other times at the home.
