W. Williams

Mr. W. Earl Williams, age 82, of Elon, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Brunswick County, VA, he was the son of the late Herbert Wallace Williams and the late Gertrude Wray Williams Cole. After graduating with honors from Virginia Polytechnical Institute with a B.S in Electrical Engineering, he worked for AT&T and Lucent Technologies as a contractor for the Department of Defense. He worked until his retirement in 1996. Earl could fix anything. He loved woodworking, landscaping/gardening, fixing automobilies, and was a lover of all foods and cooking. He was a perfectionist in all that he did. He traveled to over 20 countries with his job and could speak in six languages.
Mr. Williams is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Shaw Williams of New York, NY; his son Todd McKinnon Williams (Catherine Cope) and his most beloved granddaughter, Margaret McKinnon "Maisie" Williams all of Asheville, NC; and his sister, Cheryl Peebles of South Hill, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Malcom Cole and Kenneth Williams.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
