W. Cauzell

Mr. W. Cauzell Yow, age 91, of Burlington passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Liberty Commons. Born in Guilford County, he was the son of the Late Henry Robert Yow and the late Sally Blanche Flynn Yow and was married for over 69 years to Mrs. Rachel Smith Yow, who survives. He was a veteran in the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of Master Sargent and he served in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He was part of a group of 90 other veterans that made the last Flights of Honor trip from Greensboro to Washington D.C. Cauzell was a longtime member of Davis St. Methodist Church, where he was active in the Methodist Men and the Joe Holmes Sunday School Class. He retired from Western Electric with over 41 years of service. He was a member of the Pioneers, longtime member of the Burlington Kiwanis Club and volunteer with the Hospice League. Cauzell enjoyed traveling, fishing, spending time at the beach and cheering for Carolina sports, but was a supporter of the Lady Wolfpack Club. Mr. Yow is survived by his wife of the home; his children, Sally Maples and her husband, Randy, and David C. Yow and his wife, Lisa, all of Burlington; three grandchildren, Logan (Haley) Maples of Cary, Arden (Adam) Thomas of Raleigh and Taylor Yow of Burlington; and a sister, Patsy Jones of Clairmore, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Tyrus Yow, Flynn Yow, Freeman Yow, Hilton Yow and Betty Jane DeCaro. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 25, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Wilbur Jackson. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at his son, David's, residence, 2040 Engleman Ct., Burlington.
