Virginia Jones

Burlington Virginia Beck Jones, 95, of 2909 Snug Harbor Road passed away Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Liberty Commons after several years of declining health. She was born in Moore County on August 6, 1913 to the late Rufus Walter and Barbara Anner Cockman, and was married to the late Noel Buford Jones. Survivors include her daughter Glenda Turner of Burlington; grandchildren: Dawn Vargas and husband Michael, Jeff Turner, Rene Cranfill and husband Shorty, Brent Howerton and wife Beverly; great grandchildren: Jason Vargas, Ben Vargas, Josh Cranfill, Michael Howerton, Jonathan Howerton, and Ally Howerton; brothers Phillip Beck of Asheboro, and Rufus Beck, Jr. of Seagrove, NC; and step-sons: Lewis Jones and Lloyd Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; daughter Lois Jean Jones; son Ed Jones; sisters: Myla Alice Setzer and Maggie Trotter; brother Bill Beck; and son-in-law David Turner. The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2009 at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Allman officiating. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, and at other times at the home. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at Liberty Commons. They would also like to thank Robin Kale, Susan Crisp, Ashley Thompson, and the Hospice staff for the care they provided to Virginia.
