Mrs. Virginia Kay Ruttenbur Duck, loving mother, grandma and aunt, age 81, of South Dayton, NY passed away on May 28, 2024 at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington, North Carolina, after several years of declining health.
Born in Gowanda, NY, she lived all 81 years of her life in Hamlet, New York in the town of Villenova. She was the daughter of the late S. Wilton Ruttenbur and the late Beulah Mae Scott Ruttenbur and was married for 47 years to the late Martin LaRue Duck, who passed away in 2008. Virginia was a career homemaker. She was a phenomenal baker, enjoyed refinishing furniture, and as a teenager was a barrel racer with her
beloved horse “King.” She loved country music, was an avid Elvis fan, and lover of animals and beautiful flowers. She especially enjoyed traveling and visiting with her family in several states.
Mrs. Duck is survived by her sons, Randall Duck (Carol Doak), Russell Duck (Angie Sines), Ricky (Stacy) Duck and others that she considered her children, niece, Wynnette Duck and “adopted” son, Bill Musall; six grandchildren, Cortney (Josh) Ledford), Joseph Scinta, Zackery Duck (Chandra Nagel), Joshua Duck, Damien Duck (Rachel Durham) and Cameron (Karah) Duck; four great grandchildren, Liam Leighton Ball, Riley Brooke Ledford, Lyla Mae Duck and Jolie Kate Duck; and numerous nieces and nephews including a very special great-niece, Isabelle Duck. She was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life; parents; a greatly missed grandson, Cory Martin Duck; and two sisters, Marlene Ecker and Sharon Till.
A memorial gathering will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 PM Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory. A graveside celebration of life will be held in August in New York.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to Riles & Woolley Funeral Home for Villenova Cemetery stone beautification and restoration in her honor as she worked as a caretaker of the cemetery grounds with her husband and family for many years.
