Virginia Jeanette Bland

Virginia Jeanette Ward Bland also known as “Aunt Net”, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 6, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 21, 1943 in Alamance County to the late Frank and Lucille Terrell Ward, and was the wife of 61 years to Cecil Ward “Buck” Bland, Jr. who survives.

Virginia retired from textiles and was a member of Staley Memorial Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors other than her husband Cecil “Buck” Bland, Jr. include a son, C.W. Bland III and wife Linda; a daughter, Cynthia Carter and husband Jasper; five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Samuel James Bland; a great granddaughter, Kelleigh Shropshire; and a brother, Spencer Ward.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. David Middendorf with the burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7pm Monday at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
