Veronica D. Ronnie Dee passed away on her birthday, Sunday, November 21, 2010. She was 97. She resided at Twin Lakes Community in Burlington, N. C. Born and lived in Bayonne for 90 years, she moved to North Carolina 7 years ago. She attended Bayonne High School and worked for the Bayonne Military Ocean Terminal until her retirement. She was a member of St. Andrew's Church in Bayonne and Blessed Sacrament Church in Burlington. She was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law and aunt. She was preceded in death by her husband Gustave J. Dee, her brothers Frank Yurko and Edward York, and her sisters Mary Amses, Emily Amses, Agnes Andre, and Florence Wells. She was the daughter of the late Amelia and Andrew Yurko. Ronnie leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter Lois C. Dee, O. P. of Cornwall, NY; her daughter and son-in-law, Beth E. and James R. Barba, of Mebane; her brother Andrew Yurko of Bayonne; her surrogate daughters, Carol Sue Eisler and Betty Lou Davis; her nephews and nieces, Robert Amses, Richard and Phyllis Amses, Janice and Matthew Wernock, Gail and Robert Reilly, Richard Drogan, Adrienne Amses, Arlene Lautermilch, and Edith Shurley of NJ; Joan Townsend of CT; Debbie and Robert Sharp of PA; Barbara Selvik of IL; Judy Visone of FL; and Michael Yurko of CA. She loved talking to people and brightening their days with her wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. She will be remembered for her "one-liners," jokes and smiling face. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing solitaire and bingo. A celebration of her life will be held at the Chapel at Twin Lakes Community at 1:30pm on Wednesday, November 24. A mass will be celebrated in Bayonne NJ at St. Andrew's Church on December 18 at 10AM.
