Mrs. Vernice Lee Rouse, 85, formerly of Gurney St., passed away peacefully, Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields. A longtime resident of Burlington, NC, she was born in Duplin County, NC on August 4, 1922 to her parents, David Owen Lee and Mamie Tyndall Lee, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Rom A. Rouse, who died in 1977; her two sisters, Jane Scott Byrd and Thelma Lee Rogers; and a special nephew, Roger Kent Byrd. She was one of the founding members of Ireland St. Chapel and retired from Western Electric Corporation with over thirty five years of service. Mrs. Rouse is survived by her son, Joseph Rom Rouse and his wife, Marsha, of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Mary Campbell Rouse, Josie Rouse, Cecily Rouse and Catherine Rouse; and she also leaves numerous nieces and nephews that she loved as if they were her own children. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Mr. Eddie Schwartz.
