Verna was surrounded by her family reading scriptures and Christian hymns were softly playing in the background. God welcomed her home as the last song was played “It Is Well With My Soul”. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of the late Robert Ward Flowers.
Verna was employed for many years with Ciba-Geigy. She was a member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church in Buffalo Junction, Virginia. Verna enjoyed decorating for Christmas and cooking for her family and friends. Verna was given to hospitality and entertaining. She loved her grandkids and grand dogs. Verna spent time in recent years visiting and spending time with her daughters.
Verna is survived by her daughters, Terry Burnap and her husband, Rich of Lees Summit, Missouri and Janet Anderson of Kansas City, Missouri; her son, Richard Anderson and his wife, Amy of Clarksville, Virginia; grandchildren, Tal Leathers, Jeramie Mullis and wife, Joye, Nick Anderson and wife, Lori Ann, and deceased grandson, Gregg Sutton; great grandchildren, Tori, Austin, Allie, Johnny, Carr, Ethan, Sierra and Aidan; brothers, Howard Morene of Gibsonville, Rev. Billy Morene and wife, Lorene of Gibsonville and Jerry Morene and wife, Melinda of Winston Salem. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Lewis Henson Morene, Sr. and Lula Atkins Morene; sisters, Decala Pike and Wanda Morene and her brothers, Lewis Morene, Jr., Henry R. Morene and Joe J. Morene.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 10AM at Alamance Memorial Park.
