Vera Ann Hackett Scott, 74, died peacefully on Easter Sunday morning, March 31, 2024 at UNC Cancer Hospital at Chapel Hill surrounded by her family. She was a native of Guilford County and the daughter of the late Robert Solon Hackett and Elsie Lois Murray Hackett.
Vera was a faithful wife, a devoted mother, and a loving grandmother. She cherished her time watching her grandchildren playing ball. She was a hardworking woman who retired as Assistant Director of Water Resources for the City of Greensboro, NC. Her favorite thing to do was cooking for her family and friends. She loved traveling with her family and it was always an adventure.
Vera is survived by her husband of 53 years, Leo Scott; two children: Stephanie Scott Davis (Brian) and Brian Jason Scott (Beth); two grandchildren: Dylan Scott Davis and Braxton Garrett Scott; and a sister, Vernett Zimmerman (Marshall); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Vallie Keel and father and mother-in-law, William Otis Scott and Maggie Cook Scott.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 11:00am at Bethlehem Christian Church with interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Lowe Funeral Home from 6:00 till 8:00 PM and other times at the home.
