Vera Smith Garner, 72, formerly of Holts Store Rd. passed away Thursday, April 19, 2007 at The Golden Living Center. She was the wife of the late Boyce Ernest Garner and the daughter of the late William Henry and Jessie Lee Saunders Smith. She was a native of Guilford County, worked for Bates Nitewear for twenty years and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her daughters Kathy Clapp and her husband Allan of Gibsonville, Rhonda Crouse and her husband David of Greensboro, Darlene Gengler and her husband Ken of Greensboro, Sandra Combs and her husband Billy of Gibsonville, a son Boyce Garner, Jr. of Gibsonville, sisters, Judy Hemphill of Liberty, Delores Shelton, Jewel Loye both of Greensboro, Bertha Poindexter of Browns Sumitt, a brother William Henry Smith, Jr. of Liberty, grandchildren, Dale Cook, Daren Clapp, Brad Crouse, Lindsay Crouse, Kurt Nelson, Scott Nelson, Tripp Nelson, Angela Miller, Kelly Combs, Jessica Combs, Ashley Garner, Dylan Garner and one great grandson Luke Nelson. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a granddaughter Tammy Lynn Nelson, sisters, Rachel Coffer, Mary Ring, brothers, Paul Smith and James Smith. There will be a graveside service held 2:00 PM Sunday at Lakeview Memorial Park by Rev. Lloyd Smith. The family will receive friends following the service and at other times at Kathys home, 6116 Carmon Rd., Gibsonville. Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. is serving the family.
