Vella Mae Gaddy

Liberty-Vella Mae “Doodle” Gaddy, 75, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Bud Gaddy.

Doodle was the former Co-Owner of Carolina Tree Service along with her husband. She was of the Baptist faith and was devoted to her family. She enjoyed cooking, shopping and family gatherings at her home and taking family road trips.

Survivors include her son, Roger Skenes and wife, Pamela of Liberty; daughters, Susie Hill and husband, Kenny of Burlington and Tammy Skenes and her companion, Tony Straughan of Liberty; grandchildren, Brandi Skenes, Kim (Cliff) Pollock, Kenneth (Danielle) Hill, Jr., Jessie Hill, David Coble, Brandon Eastwood, Steven (Brooke) Eastwood and Heather (Dustin) Coble and eleven great grandchildren; step children, Mike Gaddy and wife, Darleene of Clinton and Donald Gaddy of Mebane; sisters, Mary Ann Walker of Burlington and Bonnie Brooks and husband, Billy of Liberty; brothers, Jeffrey Whitacre and wife, Jennifer of Liberty, Ronald Wall and wife, Moe of Snow Camp and Gary Wall of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Clarence Lee Scott and Elsie Michael Scott Wall and a sister, Jackie Isley.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Hospice and Palliative Care for all their compassionate care for Doodle during her sickness.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at 2:00pm at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Chaplain Gail Smith and the burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Wednesday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
