Tulip Marie Carden Whitley passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. She was born November 2, 1926 in Alamance County to the late Wade Hampton and Flossie Mae Wright Carden and was married to the late Clifton Ernest Whitley, Jr. for 65 years. Tulip was a charter member of Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church and she worked in textiles for over forty years. She was an avid race fan of her son-in-law and two grandsons. She was also a Duke basketball fan. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters Denise King, Sherry (Danny) Hodge; grandchildren, Brian (Christine) King, Kristen (Thomas) Bogunia, Kory Hodge; great grandchildren, Tony Allen, Charlie Bogunia, Banks Bogunia and Annie Bogunia. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson, Jeremy King; son-in-law, Larry King; sisters, Connie Minton, Virginia Campbell, Hilda Pritchett, Jessie Sykes; brothers, Wade H. Carden, Jr. and Boyd Carden.
The service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 PM Sunday June 7, 2020 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Don Pegg. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. You may watch the service live and sign the online guest book at www.lowefuneralhome.com.
