Troy Doby, Jr., 80, went home to be with his heavenly Father, Friday, January 15, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Guilford County, to the late Bessie Lynch and Troy Lee Doby, Sr. He was preceded in death by his beloved infant son, Dennis Robert Doby, where they are now walking hand in hand. Troy is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 56 years, Linda Patrum Doby, the love of his life .. He is also survived by sons, Brian L. Doby (spouse Sharon) of Whitsett and Mark W. Doby (spouse Tina) of the home. He treasured his three precious granddaughters - Michala, Alexis and Emily, who brought a lot of joy to his life. Other survivors include siblings Viola Whitesell (spouse Gaynor) of Gibsonville, Louise Capps (spouse Archie) of Graham, Coy Doby of Sneads Ferry, Paul Doby (spouse Joy) of Gibsonville and James Doby (spouse Becky) of Liberty. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews. He retired from Resco Products as a salesman after 48 years of service, where he formed many lifelong friendships. He was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Whitsett, where he introduced his family to the importance of church and family. He was an avid race fan and loved being at the race track with his sons; especially when they were the ones involved in the racing. He also enjoyed spending time outside, where he loved to work in the yard, and always found things to keep him busy. A celebration of Troy's life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Whitsett by Preacher Tim Stevens. Interment will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory from 6-8 p.m., Monday, and other times at the home. The family would like to thank his caring Hospice nurse, Cindy, for not only taking care of Mr. Doby, but the entire family. In lieu of flowers, donations or memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell or First Baptist Church of Whitsett.
