Gibsonville-Tommy Joe Aheron, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 2, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was a native of Wilkes County and the husband of 53 years to Helen Edmonds Aheron who survives.
Tommy retired from Guilford County. He was a member of McLeansville Baptist Church and a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. He was affectionately known as the McLeansville Baptist Church master chef for his BBQ and Chicken. Tommy also prepared food for his community and was known for his sense of humor. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of the home, Helen Edmonds Aheron; daughters, Kimberly Aheron Vincent of Greensboro and Kelly Aheron Ferguson of Whitsett; grandchildren, Sydney Vincent Way and husband, Drew, Morgan Sartin, Casey Vincent and Garrett Ferguson; great grandchildren, Sammy, Carter, Liam, Elliott and Alex; brothers, Raymond "Billy" Farmer of Eden and Jack Aheron of Eden and numerous nieces and nephews. He ws preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Louise Rickman Aheron and three brothers.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 2:00 PM at McLeansville Baptist Church and the burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Saturday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
