Timothy Cornel Wackerhagen

Timothy Cornel Wackerhagen, 73, of Mebane, NC passed away on June 24, 2022.

 

Born in Fayetteville, NC, Tim was the son of the late Sue and Dave Wackerhagen. Tim graduated from Fayetteville High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War and was a two time recipient of the Purple Heart Medal. After completing his tour in the Army, he graduated from Campbell University, then years later received his Masters in social work from the University of South Carolina. He began his career as a psychiatric social worker at Durham Regional Hospital where he served patients there for over 25 years.

 

Tim is survived by his children Matt Wackerhagen (Tia), Sarah Wackerhagen, John Wackerhagen, and Sam Wackerhagen (Tiffany); grandchildren, Cooper, Jada, Zoe, Cassius, Mason, Javiya, Charlotte, and Samantha; brothers, Dan Wackerhagen and David Wackerhagen; 7 nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents, Tim is preceded in death by his sister Laurie Wackerhagen.

 

A memorial will be held in honor of Tim’s life on Saturday, August 6, 2022. He will be taken to sea off the coast of North Carolina in a private ceremony by his children and grandchildren.
